What does a day in Bank of Ireland look like?

I use the IT Gym a few mornings a week which is a great start to my day.

The role is varied so I like to spend the first 30 minutes at my desk structuring my day and reviewing requirements for various meetings with vendors and colleagues. Every day is different and brings a new set of challenges, so being organised is essential. I could be analysing designs and testing outputs from projects, documenting evidence for audit controls, reviewing vendor reports and chairing planning workshops.

I get to work with a wide variety of colleagues in a range of departments from Service Level Management to Problem Management.

What's the best thing about your job?

The best part of my job is the impact it can have on the stability of IT services in Bank of Ireland. The structure of the Service Design team is new in 2015. It means we can create our objectives to meet the requirements of Bank of Ireland's IT Strategy for 2016. I really like the team that I work with, they are a great bunch of people. We work hard and achieve a lot, but always manage to have a laugh along the way.

 

What challenges you in your job?

With my varied day, keeping on top of where I have to be. I can sometimes be in different parts of the city and so commuting can be tough. With Remote Access Service (all I need is my laptop and phone) however, I'm able to get through any documentation wherever I am.

 

What gets you up in the morning?

I have a strong work ethic and I believe that anything worth having has to be worked for. With that in mind I like to produce the best quality work I can within the time provided.
